Life after Death with
Christ for 1000 years

What does life after death and the first resurrection mean? When do we rise with Christ and receive life after death? What does Jesus and the Bible teach us about our life after death experience.

4bThey came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5(The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years (Rev. 20:4b–6, NIV).

Dead in Christ Rise

Our Lord understood today’s mystery that surrounds the end times. He knew that his children would have many different views of the rapture and the 1,000 years. Paul wrote about the dead in Christ who rise to life (1 Thess. 4:13–17). He said that he didn’t want us to be ignorant about those saints who have fallen asleep with the Lord.

Jesus will come down from Heaven with the shout of an archangel. The Christians on earth will rise to meet the Lord and all the rest of the risen saints who have fallen asleep. The saints of God, who have already died or fallen asleep, will rise with Christ before he catches up his Church (1 Thess. 4:15). Our Lord teaches that we will rise with him from our graves to life eternal.

28”Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 29and come out—those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned “ (John 5:28, 29, NIV).

Matthew’s Gospel told us that the saints who had fallen asleep rose from the grave at our Lord’s death. This real event indicates that Christians go directly to his or her Savior at their physical death on earth.

50And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. 51At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. 52The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus’ resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people (Matt. 27:50–53, NIV).

Life after death changes darkness in light

Life after Death brings Light to Darkness

The crucifixion of the Lamb opened the way for the resurrection of God’s chosen people. The people came out of the tombs to indicate that by his Resurrection God also raises the dead holy people of God. This happens from the time of Christ until the end of the Age. God put this in the Bible to help us understand that he gives us life after death and that we never die. Jesus told Martha that he was the Resurrection and the Life. If anyone believed in him, he or she would live and never die (John 11:25, 26).

Life after Death or resurrection

A true statement says that in order to have resurrection, someone dead needs to rise to life. What does this mean? When do our souls come to life after death?

The Bible says that we were dead in our sins and our sinful nature, but God raised us to life with Christ, or gave us life after death (Col. 2:13). God gave the Law to Moses in the OT. The Law raised sin to life, which brought death to all men. God did not take sin into account before the Law (Rom. 5:12, 13).

9Once I was alive apart from law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. 10I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death. 11For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death (Rom. 7:9–11, NIV).

The Holy Scriptures say we were dead in our sins and the ways of the world. We followed our cravings and sinful desires. This made us objects of wrath, but because of God’s vast love and mercy for us, he made us alive in Christ (Eph. 2:1–5).

Life after Death in Jesus

Jesus told Nicodemus that if he wanted to enter the Kingdom of God, than he must be born again (John 3:3–21). When God brings us through the born-again experience, he makes us alive (1 Pet. 1:3). He gives us life after death by resurrecting us into a living spiritual child of the Father. We live forever and do not die.

24”I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. 25I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live” (John 5:24, 25, NIV).

Jesus spoke words of life after death to all of us. We crossed from death to life after we heard the teaching of Jesus and believed. This then … is the first resurrection. The children of God who remain faithful will never experience the second death because the … second death has no power over them. Their Father will bless them for infinity.

People of the world who reject the gift of salvation make up the … rest of the dead. People without Christ living in them are dead and never experience new life in Christ. They miss the first resurrection. They will not rise from spiritual death until the Second Coming of Christ. Then they will understand the spiritual truths of God’s Word (John 5:28–30).
